Dinosaurs and Turkeys

Colin had, once again, been begging to go to the dino museum for the day.  We finally had an empty Saturday afternoon, so off we went.

After we finished up at the museum we joined Uncle Willis, Aunt Leah, and GraGra for dinner at Uncle Willis and Aunt Leah's house.  Before dinner we crafted up our hand turkeys for Uncle Willis' First Annual Smith Family Hand Turkey Exchange.

Mother's Day Fun

Oh, Mother's Day.  It was a good one this year!  We had a nice visit with GraGra and Papa Greg on Friday night and Saturday.  I even made them Colin's favorite meal IN THE WORLD (chicken with crunchy bread). Colin managed to be able share!

On Sunday, Daddy let me sleep in a bit and even had cards and little gift waiting for me at breakfast.  After we all got cleaned up we were off for brunch with Grammy, Papa Frank, Uncle D, and Aunt Cedes.  Before we left, I had Daddy get our annual Mother's Day pictures for me.

We all had a nice brunch and then Daddy whisked the kids away to the dinosaur museum with Grammy and Papa.  Me?  Well, I went off BY MYSELF.  I picked up some flowers for around the house, took a long walk in the park, picked up a coffee, and did a bit of shopping.  I did hear that the museum was fun though....

After the kids got home, the three of us had a nice snuggle on the couch and watched "The Aristocats" before dinner.  All in all a lovely Mother's Day!

A Weekend with More Fun

No major home improvement projects were tackled last weekend. Much to Colin's delight. We continued to work on a few things, well, really, Daddy continued to work on some projects, but took more time to have fun with the kiddos. On Sunday Gillian was invited to a birthday party for a classmate, and Colin took himself and Daddy to the dinosaur museum.

Here's G with the birthday girl. The party was at a local craft store. We made felt crowns, necklaces, and bracelets. Then were was singing and cake. It was a very nice four year old birthday party!

(The birthday girl's mom made that cute Rapunzel cake and Pascal cupcakes! Very cute!)

I hear the boys had a lot of fun at the museum. Apparently Colin and some (unknown) little girl latched on to each other very early in the day and Colin spent his time giving her a guided tour and lecture series.

This is C and his friend digging for dinos. (Neither Colin nor Daddy could remember this girl's name. Typical.)

Apparently C was directing the entire dig.

Dino Museum Time

The same week we had Parker, Colin and Gillian's school had conferences on Thursday. So, Daddy took the day off to come to the conferences and we all went to the dino museum to enjoy ourselves after our meetings!

Oh, Parker came too. And since Gillian brought Parker along, Colin wanted to bring Dewey. Seemed fair.

Dewey and Parker visited their North Pole friends. And admired the snow house.

We learned how to make a snow house. Colin told Daddy to pay attention so he could do better in our yard next time.

Dino Day

After adventures in ballet, we had promised Colin that we would all go to the Dino Museum. He asked every day that week if it was Dino Day. And FINALLY we made it to Saturday! It ended up being a kind of rainy day, so the museum was a great destination.

Apparently even more exciting than the ACTUAL, REAL DINOSAUR FOSSILS in front of them, are the (very limited) touch screen computers. That they can't actually READ. Whatever.

We did enjoy a wander through all the dinos. The museum re-did all their dino displays five years ago or so and this was my first time through since then. Very impressive! Great dinosaur collection!

We moved on to some more "hands on" stuff!

And a jaw bone....of what I forget!

Then we dug up our own fossils!

Then we made our own "collections" for display of things we'd want in our own museums.

We finally MADE the kids walk through the Impressionists exhibit. It wasn't a hit. We'll just pretend it was because they were hungry. Not that they inherited their lack of "art lover" traits from me....

Love the dinos! Fun day!
