Labor Day Fun

Since it's not enough to refinish floors over a weekend, we invited a crew of people over for a Labor Day picnic in the new place! Uncle D, Aunt Cedes, and Tommy came over. And Grammy, Papa, Tim, Mrs. Kathy, and JOE (!!!) drove down for the day. The children were ECSTATIC!

The kids were VERY surprised when Joe walked in,since we are smart enough to not TELL THEM when things like that are happening. They then monopolized Joe's time playing in their rooms for a very, very long time. It was very loud up there...but I still don't know exactly what they were up to! Everyone else enjoyed a tour of the new house and admired Daddy's new floor.

After a pretty yummy lunch (if I do say so myself), we asked Mrs. K to take some quick pictures for us. I wanted a family picture to put on a change of address card to mail out. Thankfully, Mrs. K was happy to oblige.

(We didn't use that one, but it amuses me.)

Oh look, JOE!

We also got a nice picture of Grammy with all three of her grandbabies. I think she was happy to have one to show off!

And then the children got a hold of the camera and documented the rest of the day.

Labor Day Fun

Yes, we are still here. Yes, I am still blogging. Post-vacation August was pretty boring, but in a good way! We had beautiful weather and a few fun things to do, but no big adventures. I did get a few pictures, but they need to chased down off the other camera! Hope to catch up with those soon!

So, last weekend we headed north to visit family and friends. We hadn't been up since July 4, so it was certainly time! We drove up Saturday morning, settled in, and got the kids used to the idea of sharing Uncle D's room at Grammy's house! We usually put one kid in Uncle D's room and one in our room, but since Uncle D and Aunt Cedes weren't up that weekend, we decided to be adventurous! We set up one air mattress and set Gillian up in the queen bed! We switched them the next day, just to be fair! Other than no nap on Saturday, they did very, very well. And I slept SO MUCH BETTER than I do when we share a room! HOORAY!

Our first adventure was a swim and fish fry at Dickiedoo's on Saturday evening. Noonie was off visiting family and we missed her. Dickiedoo had invited Grammy and Papa to come along too, since Papa had helped catch the fish, after all!

Some Uncle time.

Oh, and Real Leah too!

I think this is when her nose was starting to run. It didn't stop. And it's Thursday and it's still running just a bit!

The fish was DELICIOUS. The kids preferred Uncle Stevies french fries though!

Sunday was spent playing at Grammy's and having a picnic with Dickiedoo, Mrs. Kathy, Tim, and JOE! Oh JOE!

More runny nose.

Hurricane Isaac threatened, no actual rain.

The kids were out like lights that afternoon and ready to go visit GraGra and Papa after nap. Uncle Willis had whipped up a great lasagna for us. And Great-Grandma and Great-Papa came too. We had a nice visit and an excellent dinner. But no pictures. Colin was NAGGING us to go back to Grammy's though because we had told him we'd have a campfire!

The kids FIRST campfire! They helped Daddy build it. Daddy put those Eagle Scout skills to work!

SO EXCITED!

Good work, Daddy! It was an excellent fire!

We tried some s'mores. They were not a hit. Goofy kids. I enjoyed mine! They DID enjoy running around in the dark, staying up late, and seeing JOE again! Finally around 9:00 Grammy and I did get them into bed! Then I got to spend more fire time visiting with our friends Tim and Betsy! YAY!

Monday morning we were up and out the door and headed home! A quick holiday weekend, but a fun one!

Labor Day Catch-up!

Little behind lately! We've been busy and I've been unmotivated blog-wise. Sigh.

We spent a nice, busy, quick weekend up north for Labor Day, just Saturday to Monday this year. But it was nice to see all our family and relax a bit. We spent most of the day on Saturday trying to stay cool (very humid and warm) and catching up with Uncle Willis, Leah, Uncle Stevie, and Aunt Emily. The Uncles (and GraGra) cooked up a feast and Great-Grandma made us some homemade peach ice cream. It was all delicious and wonderful. And not a single picture was taken of it! Daddy did take some pictures in the afternoon while the kids forced him outside to play in the heat for a while. Thanks for taking one for the team, Daddy!

Still skeptical, as always.

How they have that much energy when it's that hot, I'll never know.

Apparently, G found GraGra's tape measure and went off to measure the corn. Not with her knee this time.

Hopefully it was measuring "Nearly Ripe."

Sunday morning we took one last dip in Dickiedoo's pool before he closed it up for the season. Gillian did really, really well in her life jacket. She paddled all over by herself and even jumped off the top of the ladder into the water with no one to catch her! She was quite proud! Again, no pictures though!

Sunday evening we went over to Grammy and Papa Frank's for dinner with the Keisters (minus Jessie Bean). The kids had fun running all over, playing in what leaves had already turned and fallen, and enjoying the wind kicked up by a (lovely) cold front!

On Monday morning we took a quick visit to see the newest baby donkey. It was pouring though and since we were all huddled in the barn, we didn't get any pictures of him. Needless to say, he was QUITE adorable and funny!

Another fun weekend to "end" our summer!
