July 4th Catch-up, Part 1

See about Michael's love affair with the Fourth of July here and here.

So, holiday weekend....well we drove up north to the Land of Grandmas on Friday, July 1. We got there in time for some play, lunch, and nap. Big news this trip was that we are finally DONE with the Pack n Plays!! Woo hoo! The kids were really much, much too tall for them anyway! But, since we are doing so well with big-kid beds at home, we bought some air mattresses for travel. The kids did REALLY well in them. They looked so much more comfortable in them than in those tiny travel cribs (and Grammy may have spoiled them with Thomas and Princess sheets for the new mattresses)! HOORAY for sleep!

Oh, and C&G helped Papa Frank make some fresh squeezed lemonade...just like Max and Ruby make!

(Per usual, G isn't wearing many clothes. And that's Grammy's two month old Cinderella balloon helping too)

Anyway, Friday evening we drove out to eat dinner at Uncle Stevie and Aunt Emily's new house! Aunt Em just started a new job, and she and Uncle Stevie moved back home and bought a lovely new house! We were pretty excited to check it out! The kids were particularly excited to check out the playhouse in the back yard. It passed their inspection with flying colors! As did the dinner Uncle Stevie cooked up for us!

The slide is very zippy.

On Saturday morning we called on Dickiedoo, Noonie, and their pool! Colin and Gillian absolutely love water, and we don't have much chance to swim, so they were pretty excited! And headed STRAIGHT for the water when we got there!

They loved these blow-up, q-tip things....

Both of them will jump from the ladder and side too.

And G really liked Daddy to spin her!

Poor G. She has approximately 0% body fat and she SHIVERS her way through swim time. She really needs a wet suit, or 100 degree water to swim in. Despite the shivers though, she ended up skinny-dipping for the last half of our visit. Again, very few clothes. It's a theme. We didn't get any skinny dip pictures. Or pictures of me falling off the raft rather ungracefully. Or of G after she FELL IN THE POOL after she was dressed (she was immediately scooped up by Dickiedoo who was sitting 6 inches from her). Exciting morning.

More to come....

So cute, Lea! Looks like a fantastic time had by all. I was thinking of you because mine saw their very first mylar helium balloon yesterday and could not contain their excitement. I think it will be a long lasting love affair.
