Fair Fun

Saturday night we took the kids down to the St. Joan of Arc's church festival for some fun. We've taken the kids the last two summers too. See here for 2009. And apparently 2010 didn't make the blog, but we did go! So, a nice summer tradition.

We decided to eat dinner before we went just to keep life simple. GraGra and Papa Greg had come down to spend the day with us, so we had an entourage. And, Uncle D met us at the fair. Aunt Cedes was working, so we just had to miss her. We also forgot our camera (SHOCKING, I tell you!), so Daddy took these with his (non-iPhone) phone.

The kids immediately wanted to ride. They've got the hang of this now!

See Uncle D in the background? He's with us, not some creepy lurker!

Colin was intensely steering. He was quite serious about his fire truck.

Their first solo carousel ride. And it went FAST. Daddy kept telling me to stop waving at them because he didn't want them to let go and wave back! Note G's outfit of fancy floral dress with matching plastic link bracelet. She picked that out herself.

Gillian was totally bored with this ride. Either that or she was frightened by that scary pink bear in the back.

We also rode the ferris wheel. Colin rode with Daddy and Gillian rode with me. The kids loved it. Daddy and I did not. We both just kept thinking, "How many times is this ride set up and taken down in a summer...." Anyway, we survived. And the view was cool, if you didn't think about it!

We all had a lemonade and a funnel cake, along with some people watching. Colin was NOT pleased when we told him it was time to go home. He wanted to ride more. C&G managed to con Papa Greg into one more ride. And they chose the bounce house. I knew that wasn't a good idea. We never have much luck with those. And, yep, 15 seconds of bounce, and they were done. Thanks anyway, Papa.

So, a quick, fun evening of cheating death on carnival rides. A good summer tradition.
