Bible School Catch-Up
As I wrote in the Grandma post, the kids went to a week of Bible School in June. They went to the church that I grew up in and that most of my Smith family still attends (and also where Michael and I were married and the kids baptized). Bible School was from 6-8 every evening, we were up a bit late all week long but the kids absolutely LOVED it. They enjoyed every part of the program: singing, snack, stories, games, and crafts.
Getting ready one evening...

I am amazed at how well they learned about SIX new, long, and complicated songs to sing in church on Sunday. Aunt Sue was the song leader and, boy, did she get them to learn a lot in five days! They are STILL singing them three weeks later! Especially "Praise Ye the Lord, Hallelujah!"
The Sunday following Bible School the kids always do some skits and songs for the congregation as part of the service. When the leaders were handing out parts, they announced "If anyone wants a speaking part, come see Becky!" and Colin immediately told me he wanted one. I sent him to Becky and he got a part! He did a GREAT job with it too! He had one line, "No matter where you go, TRUST GOD." He said it loudly, clearly, and with enthusiasm!
Ready for church!

Singing with all the kids (with cousin Sarah sneaking in the side of the shot!):

Fun, fun week! And Becky did a FANTASTIC job leading Bible School! Good thing they liked it cause I have them signed up for a week of local Bible School this week too!

Ham.
Colin has been QUITE the ham lately. He's decided that he likes to sing. Except, he doesn't really stick to the traditional words. Or melody. Or rhythm. But he has enthusiasm.
Every night before bed, Daddy or I count sheep and sing Baa Baa Black Sheep with Colin. He started to sing alone with Daddy a while ago. And it's hilarious. I caught him singing it at lunchtime one day last week. He needed a little help moving along the song.
The part where Gillian chimes in FROM THE BATHROOM kills me.

Bathtub Boogie...
Tonight in the bathtub, Gillian was doing her usual routine. She likes to use the side of the tub as a piano and play us little songs, mostly humming. Tonight, she decided to add her some of her favorite "Max & Ruby" pretending and sing "Mary Had a Little Lamb" while playing her pretend piano. In the M&R episode, Ruby tells us that every one likes a "personalized" song so she changes the words to "Ruby Had a Little Lamb." Hence, Gillian was singing the Ruby version. Honestly, I don't think she knows the real words.
Anyway, I added HER name to the song and she loved it. So, then I did Colin's name in the song. THEN she took off. She sang her tune with Mommy, Daddy, Aunt Cedes, Uncle, and Great-Grandma. It was very charming!

A-B-C!
Colin has been working on his ABC song for a few weeks. He's very interested letters, both as a song and in print. We caught him singing at the dinner table (where a lot of our videos are made!):
In case you need a translator, Gillian is saying, "ME BELLY FULL!" She wanted down from the dinner table!
