Colin's Happy. And He Knows It.

One of Colin's current favorite songs is "If You're Happy, and You Know It." He picked up the motions pretty quickly too. He claps for the claps, stomps for the stomps, and attempts to snap for the snaps. The last move he does looks like more snapping, but it's more of a fist pump. The absolute BEST part of the video though, is the small sibling squabble towards the end. Over a book nobody really wants anyway. Classic.

Enjoy!

Helicopters

So Lea and the kids were kind enough to get me a miniature remote controlled helicopter for Christmas. Observe the look of joy on my face as I practice flying it before we head North for Christmas proper.

Well it turns out that the kids LOVE to watch it fly. They Love the Helicopter. They love it so much that when I come home from work, they run over to the door in the entertainment center where I keep the it and pound on the door until I get the helicopter out (this pounding is behavior that we'll have to modify, but anyway...).

Well, it turns out that it's not just actual flying helicopters that they like but even non-flying ones too. We went on an outing to Barnes and Noble today so that we could get them some new books. After playing for a while in one end of the kids' section, we migrated down toward the other end. There we discovered a train table outfitted with Thomas the Tank Engine trains. Among the trains Gillian discovered the "Harold", the helicopter that goes along with the trains. After finding it, she started to fly it around the kids' section:

(I apologize for the poor quality of the video, it's my first cell phone video). When Gillian eventually got tired, Colin had to pick it up and fly it around too. They're OBSESSED with helicopters! I see this as a hopeful sign that they'll be engineers.

Chooooo Chooooo!

Michael was playing with the kids yesterday while I was busy elsewhere, and this is what they ended up doing....

Obviously, the kids enjoyed themselves immensely. I think Gillian is really going to like Kennywood.

Then, Colin got out and pushed. He likes to push things; his activity table, boxes, books, you name it. I think it's good exercise. Note that Michael is not helping him other than with steering. I'm not quite sure if Gillian thought this was as much fun as the Daddy Train, but she was at least OK with it.

And, as always, Schmo is SO much help.

Off-Topic (Not Twin Related): Loblaw

It cracks me up that Jessica goes to a grocery store in Canada called Loblaw's. All I can think of is Scott Baio's character on Arrested Development: Bob Loblaw.

P.S. Bob Loblaw supposedly had a blog... the Bob Loblaw Law Blog.

P.P.S. Arrested Development was one of the most hilarious shows ever and it's horrible that Fox treated it so badly.

Land Shark

Many of our dedicated readers have probably already seen this video on "the face page" (as I endearingly call it), but for those who haven't we present: Gillie Bean, the Land Shark.

She's been doing this combat crawl for a couple days now, but she's giving every sign that she'll start doing a full fledged crawl very soon.

Babies 2.0

Here you see an example of the so-called interactivity that Lea has labeled "Babies 2.0". Gillie-bean appears to like a purple seal (now named Percival) that came with here island-themed tummy-time play-yard. I'm not really sure where the seal fits into the island theme, but anyway Percival is her favorite. In the video below, Percival talks with the little Bean and gives her a kiss. The Bean accepts Percival's affection and smiles in return. This is pretty much the extent of the interactivity exhibited by Gillie’s implementation of Babies 2.0.

While limited in scope, Babies 2.0 is still preferable to Babies 1.0... Mommy is anxiously awaiting Babies 2.5 - Sleep-through-the-Night Edition.
